Junkman Dec 13 2004, 05:38 AM Game: Kenny's Rampage: Kyle's Journey Creator: Matt Eriksson Genre: Action/Rip-off Description: Help Kyle go out into a murderous rampage in a total Kenny's Rampage 1 and Kenny's Rampage 2 rip-off. Rating: 22% Review: I don't know what people might answer if we asked them what would be the worst enemy of a game maker, but I know for sure what my answer on that question is. The worst enemies of a game maker are disgruntled fans who love their work too much and go on fanatical rampages telling that everything they make is awesome, regardless of their quality. However, the worst possible outcome of this subject would be whenever such a individual loves someone so much that he start even copying his entire game style, this is where the shit hits the fan. Kenny's Rampage: Kyle's Journey is an unofficial sequel to the gory series of fame Kenny's Rampage which has been created by Matt Kennedy and it's being made by a quite unknown fellow called Matt Eriksson. Although it's referred to as Kenny's Rampage 4, there's practically nothing in this game to make it support this claim. The storyline seemed more tied up to the first and second games, yet the execution of the events is all wrong. The storyline's filled with so many plot holes that if we put them together, you'd be in for a free fall from the top of a skyscraper. Even worse: the game's plagued by an overload of obvious spelling errors and badly-butchered phrases. Why must an already bad enough story be spoiled by badly written text? I never knew that someone couldn't even spell "guy"ť correctly. Sure, there's nothing wrong with a bad story and some atrocious spelling and grammar if the game's fun, right? Well rest assured folks, because this game is not fun, and I mean not fun at all! Not only it is a complete rip-off of all of the very basic gameplay found in Kenny's Rampage 2, but it manages to execute these events in an even worse way. The game's storyline unfolds almost step by step like Kenny's Rampage 2 (the opening sequence is almost even like KR2's in every possible way!), but somehow it doesn't even get the order of the events right at all. You practically spend half of the game simply roaming on the streets and punch defenceless people who all look like a black cousin of Stan in order to kill them for no apparent reason. The game goes through almost no variation at all for almost 5 minutes until you finally get a gun. Then, you get to shoot people for 5 minutes! How sweet! This gameplay twist certainly wasn't expected. I actually have been pretty surprised when I've finally managed to meet my first enemy which actually was trying to kill me. In the final half of the game, gameplay unfolds exactly like the final part of Kenny Rampage 2: you enter the FBPP building and you kill army dudes and FBI agents with your gun. Enemies do manage to deal a fair amount of pain, but your health is always restored whenever you enter a new frame, thus removing any possible challenge into the fights. Even though there's 4 weapons within the entire building, none of the weapons do anything different; they just fire different projectiles. You still get the same death sequences and it removes the entire point of having different guns in the game. Once you've went through all this toil, you're treated to a cutscene which doesn't make sense at all and then the game ends. What the hell… there's no ending battle at all? Way to end an already bad game on an even sourer note. Seeing that gameplay has been entirely ripped off from KR2, it's not surprising that the graphics also are ripped off from the same exact game. Background elements are taken directly from the game and most of the characters have already been seen in previous games. Any of the sprites which haven't been seen in any of the other games look pretty bad and they're not well animated either. Music and sound effects are taken from... you guessed it. Enough! End my misery, pretty please. This game is a solid proof that even though imitation is one of the biggest forms of flattery, who else really care when the ending result isn't good, and I mean not good at all? There's nothing noteworthy about this game at all and the only reason why this game even get 2 points is that the game is short and can be quitted by pressing Alt+F4. Disgruntled fanatics who are reading this; whenever you really, really like something and want to pay homage to the author, don't do anything like this! Doing a complete rip-off of existing games hardly can be called an homage and if anything, this person is not likely to talk to you again. This game's not even worth downloading for laughs, since it's hardly funny at all. Steer clear of it at all costs; don't even try poking it with a pointy stick since it could bite back at you.
