Wormmaster Sep 16 2004, 04:14 PM Game: Cartman Force Creator: Junkman Genre: Action Adventure Description: South Park is invaded by zombies, mutant turkeys, aliens and so on, and our little gang of 4 is up to SAVE THE DAY!!! Rating: 89% Review: Another cool SP action game that should be in everybodys SPG collection. tongue.gif This game is cool. You can choose from Cartman, Stan, Kyle & Kenny, and then play. Stan is good for average player. I advice the new players to try him first. My personal fav. is Kenny. He's fast and good with weapons, but he lacks in health... A lot. This game has 6 different weapons, from dart gun to the rocket launcher. Some enemies won't take any damage from some guns, so you should know what gun you must use. Personally, this is my favourite SPG. Only things that suck, are the bug on civilians (like Wendy dies, and in next level, Wendy's there, but someone else is missing) and the sounds when civilians die (since when have rats started screaming?). Overall - Good game with only a few bugs. It's worth a try. Junkman still should use a little lesser of Clickteam's graphics. + Plot + Sounds + Music + Graphics + GUNS GUNS GUNS!!! + You can choose your character - Clickteam's graphics - Civilian bug Beamer Dec 13 2004, 05:05 AM Game: Cartman Force Creator: Junkman Genre: Action/Adventure Description: A South Park-styled version of Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Rating: 76% Review: Cartman Force, Junkman’s South Park-style parody of Zombies Ate My Neighbors, will have you running around various parts of the town, rescuing your fellow citizens from zombies, turkeys, ash snakes, and numerous other bad guys – all of which are hell bent on destruction. Using plunger guns, exploding cans of cola and various other deadly and unique weapons, it’s up to Cartman and his three friends to save South Park from this never-ending horde of foes. So, just why is this happening? Well, the basic story of the game involves several groups of enemies that have attacked South Park on previous occasions. They’ve all returned in huge masses somehow, and are magically reproducing at an enormous rate, so they can once again wreak havoc on this small mountain town for no apparent reason. With all these old foes running around, our 4 young boys (under the leadership of Cartman) take it upon themselves to find out what’s going on, stop the bad guys and save the citizens of South Park. Okay, don’t get me wrong – the storyline is far from Shakespeare, but what’s important here is the gameplay, and Cartman Force sure as hell doesn’t disappoint in this area. You start off by picking one of the four boys. Each character has different stats – Cartman is slow and powerful, Kyle is fast but lacks in weaponry, Kenny is a perfect fighter despite his low amount of health, and Stan is average in all areas. After that, Cartman will give you a small briefing on what’s going on (it’s not very deep, but at least it’s there) and you will then take to the town. Your goal is to run around each level, saving the townsfolk – who do nothing but stand there idle in such a time of crisis and despair. However, it’s not as easy as just collecting the citizens, as there are many enemies on the loose, chasing you wherever you go. You must stop these enemies from getting to you and the other people around by using six different weapons, all of which are fun, creative, and powerful in their own right. Rescue all the civilians (or wait for them all to be killed) and then rush to the exit. As you progress through each level, new enemies will start to appear, and the game begins to get very tough. Enemies will become more prone to attack, and harder to kill. Junkman did a downright great job of making this game incredibly challenging, although sometimes it is WAY too hard for the average gamer, even on Easy mode. Graphically, Cartman Force is pretty poor. Sure, the graphics of the 4 main boys aren’t bad – but the other South Park residents are atrocious. Many of them are pixilated, and the sizes are all wrong. The graphics of the enemies and guns aren’t as bad as the South Park residents, although they’re nothing special. The background graphics and obstacles are mostly hand-drawn, and the ones that aren’t are ripped straight from the Clickteam libraries… Still, this can all be forgiven, as Junkman has never really put much emphasis on graphics in his South Park games anyway. Sound-wise, the game is pretty good. Many of the weapon and enemy sound effects are very unique and comical, and suit the game’s somewhat cartoon style. There are also several quotes from the show, which your character will say when collecting certain things. It’s nothing we haven’t heard before, but it’s a nice little feature. Junkman made all of the background music himself in this game, which is something he has become quite well known for over the years. Being that this game was made in 2000/2001, the midis are nowhere near as good as his more recent efforts, but it’s still very refreshing to hear an original score in a South Park game. Overall, Cartman Force is very fun and addictive. The enemy AI is fairly below average, but this game still manages to be a tough challenge to complete. Sure, it’s far from being Junkman’s best game, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s great to play, and it’s lots of fun while it lasts. Despite this game’s numerous flaws, it’s still well worth the download.
